Bloodroot Requiem - New Player Guide

What is LARP?

Live Action Role Play, or LARP, is a hobby centered around events in which participants take on the personas of fictional characters and interact with one another in unscripted gameplay. These events can be in any genre, but are commonly inspired by medieval fantasy. The hobby can be compared to a live-action choose-your-own-adventure, in which characters make choices that lead them through different paths in the world they explore. LARP is also a convergence of a variety of creative hobbies including cosplay, historical reenactment, theater, creative writing, martial arts, and much more.

What is Bloodroot Requiem?

Bloodroot Requiem is a high-immersion, high-fantasy, rules-light LARP focused on cooperative interaction between the players and the world around them to create transportive narratives that are experienced like first-person adventures. Crafting relationships with other players within and without the game is a central theme of Bloodroot, establishing a community to face the dangers of the world beyond.

Players will go on exciting quests, search for hidden treasures, and protect their new settlement from evil forces that lurk in the world of Greenmarch - eventually bringing peace to a land ravaged by war and misfortune. They will have the opportunity to uncover mysteries lost to time, and create priceless shared experiences with friends both new and old.

What is Greenmarch?

A land once choked by shadows, Greenmarch is a realm scarred by war, magic, and the long reign of a tyrant now cast down. In his absence, the world teeters on the edge of rebirth. Ancient forests regrow over charred ruins, old powers stir beneath the soil, and bold souls from every corner of the realm arrive to stake their claim in what comes next. Greenmarch is a place of wild beauty, lingering danger, and untold potential.

Where do I begin?

The first step to joining Bloodroot Requiem is to read the Rulebook. This can be found on our event page, as well as in our Discord Server. While joining the Discord is not required, this is a wonderful place to engage with the community in the months between games, as well as get all of the latest rules and setting updates as soon as they become available.

The most important rulebook sections for a new player to review will be Contributing to an Immersive Environment, which covers what’s expected from players at the game, and Character Creation and Advancement - which tells you how to build a character!
